Fun new adventure for me. With the winter months upon us and a shortage of my dyed Alpaca fiber, I decided to give Silk Painting a try!
The silks and silk paints a from Dharma Trading (8mm chiffon scarf 11×90 and setasilk paints) and the design is original. I also used a water solvent resist (peboe gutta – black). It was interesting to work with these products and I think the end result was fantastic!

Sometimes you have to take time out from your busy schedule just to have fun. This week I hit the slopes between Hanover, IL. And Glena, IL., Chestnut Mountian. A day on the nice snow covered hills with my daughter, two grand children, and my husband as the photographer.

We might not have snow on the ground, but they are making it at Chestnut and the skiing is GREAT!
If you stop in Galena, drop by the Fiber Wild Store on Main Street and check out the latest fibers and fiber products!

I picked up on a new method of dyeing silk fabric. While meeting Shelley Ryan during the Mineral Point, WI Art Tour we discussed her Natural Dyeing Method which she teaches. So I decieded to give it a try!
Using natural items such as; walnuts, berries, leaves, herbs, dirt and so on. Wrapping items up tightly in the silk, wrap copper wire around fabric, place in a plastic baggie with 1/4c vinegar, wine, or fruit juices. Let soak 2 weeks and dry one. End Product is called Natural Silks.
I tried is a week ago…stay tuned for the end result!

Five friends joined me for a Fall Fiber Day. Nancy, Lana, Candy and Pam made a variety of purses/clutches, while Mileen worked on a table runner. Working with the fiber and creating different products was great, but I am telling you our lunch was fantastic!
I believe we all learned a lot about fiber and working both wet and dry needle method.
Fun Day, thanks gals!

No it’s not Christmas, but Harvest Time!
The grands helped harvest and Aunt Rita came and helped me make 40 jars of jelly.
I have a whole new appreciation for my Grandmother and Mom and all the grape and plum jelly they made over the years!

Maxine, our English Springer Spaniel, just lovessssss water. This summer she has been spending time with our 4 alpacas! I am not quite sure this is really where Sammy, Harry, Proto and Zorro would like her to be.

Wow, another successful shearfest……the Alpaces are no worst for the wear, but the family is exhausted! Few bumps and bruises, little toenail clipping and dental work. The boys a good for another year…….new experiences for us all!
Thanks kids, couldn’t have done it without you!
